How to make a Roblox roleplay game
In a roleplay game the players make the stories, and your job is to give them a place to do it. That means a town with somewhere to go, jobs to pick and small details to discover. It's the kind of game where the map matters most.
What it needs
Players pick a job or a life in a shared town, meet other people, and make up what happens next.
- A town with places to go. Houses, shops, a school, a hospital. Each one is an idea for a story.
- Jobs. Doctor, police, chef: a uniform and a tool is enough to start a story.
- Things to use. Doors that open, seats, food, vehicles. Small details make it feel real.
- Other people. Places where players naturally meet, like a square or a bus stop.
1Start on a map
Towns and cities with houses, shops and places to meet. Players make up the stories, so the place is most of the game. A finished map means your first weeks go into the game itself. Open it in Roblox Studio with File, then Open from File. Here's how, and there are free maps too.

2Add the scripts
These are free to copy and paste, each with where it goes:

3Make it feel right
- Start with a small town you can finish. Five places with things to do beat a huge city with empty buildings.
- Add things that do nothing useful: a swing, a working toilet, a shop bell. Players love them.
- Watch people play. They'll use your town in ways you didn't plan, and that tells you what to build next.
What goes wrong most often
- Empty buildings. An open door with nothing behind it is a let-down.
- A map so big that players never run into each other.
4Test it and publish
- Press F5 to try it alone. To run several players at once, pick Server & Clients in the test menu and press Play. Then invite up to 10 friends to preview it, without any help from you.
- Got a model or a script from somewhere else? Run it through the free backdoor scanner first. Hidden code can take over your game.

5Earn from it

Questions
Do I need to build the town myself?
No. Most people start on a ready-made town, then change it until it feels like theirs. It saves weeks, and that time can go into jobs and things to do.
How do roleplay games make money?
Passes for houses, vehicles and outfits, since people like to show them off. You keep 70% of the Robux spent in your game.
How many players should a server hold?
Enough to bump into each other: 15 to 30 is a common range. Try a few sizes once people are playing.
