Questions
How do I see a .rbxl or .rbxm file without Roblox Studio?
Drop it on the viewer above. It opens in your browser in 3D, and you can fly around it, click on parts and take pictures. Studio isn't needed, so it works on a Chromebook, a phone or a laptop that doesn't have it.
Why do some things show as blocks?
A mesh's shape isn't in the file. The file only has its asset ID, and the shape and textures live on Roblox's servers. So meshes and unions show as blocks of the right size, in the right place and in their own color. Parts, wedges, balls, cylinders and smooth terrain are drawn properly. Turn Meshes off to see only those.
Is my file uploaded?
No. It opens on your computer, in your browser. Nothing is sent to Forja or anyone else.
Does it show terrain?
Yes, smooth terrain and water, in the colors set in the file. Very big terrain is drawn coarser so it stays smooth to move around. Places saved with Roblox's newest expanded terrain don't show theirs yet.
Can I use it to make pictures of my map?
Yes. Picture saves what you're looking at, at 1920×1080, with no watermark, and you can put a title on it in the thumbnail maker. Spin video goes once around the map in 8 seconds, for sharing, with a small forja.us in the corner.
Can I get my map and terrain into Blender?
Yes. For Blender saves what's showing as a .glb, with the terrain, in its colors and at Roblox's scale. In Blender, use File, Import, glTF 2.0. Meshes come over as blocks, so if you need their real shapes, select them in Studio and use Export Selection, then line them up with the rest.
Does it run scripts?
No, it only draws what's in the file. No script in it can run, so it's a safe way to look at a model you don't trust. To read the scripts, use the file viewer, and to check them, the backdoor scanner.
How do I move around?
On a computer: drag to look, right drag to move sideways, scroll to zoom, and WASD to fly, with Q and E for down and up. Hold Shift to go faster. On a phone: one finger looks, two fingers zoom and move.
How big a file can it open?
Up to 200 MB. A phone draws the biggest 150,000 parts, and a computer up to 1.5 million. We tried it on real maps with over 100,000 parts.
