Before you start
Your game has to be published first: here's how. A pass is a one-time purchase, good for a VIP room or a speed boost. For things players buy again and again, like coins, use a developer product.
Create the pass
Open your game
On the Creator Hub, go to Creations and pick your game.
Open Passes
Go to Monetization, then Passes, and click Create pass.
Upload an icon
Up to 512×512 pixels, as a .jpg, .png or .bmp. It shows as a circle, so keep what matters inside it. The image resizer crops yours and shows you the circle.
Name it
Add a name, a description and a category, which sorts it in your in-game shop.
Finish
Click Create pass.
Set its price
A new pass isn't for sale until you say so. Open it and look for its Sales settings, turn on sales and enter a price in Robux. Roblox moves these menus around, so the names may differ a little.
You keep 70% of what players spend. To end up with an exact amount, the tax calculator works out what to charge, and the DevEx calculator what it's worth in dollars.
Give players the perk
Selling the pass does nothing by itself: a script has to check who owns it. To get its ID, go to Monetization, then Passes, hover over the pass, click the ... button and choose Copy Asset ID.
local MarketplaceService = game:GetService("MarketplaceService")
local Players = game:GetService("Players")
local PASS_ID = 0 -- your pass's ID
Players.PlayerAdded:Connect(function(player)
local ok, owns = pcall(function()
return MarketplaceService:UserOwnsGamePassAsync(player.UserId, PASS_ID)
end)
if ok and owns then
print(player.Name, "owns the pass") -- give the perk here
end
end)That goes in a Script in ServerScriptService. The free game pass script does the rest: it gives the perk straight after a purchase and adds a button to buy it.
Where it sells
- In your game: a button that opens Roblox's purchase window, like the one in the free script.
- Outside your game: in Monetization, then Shop, mark it Listed. Roblox can then show it on its home page, in search and after someone buys Robux.
Questions
How much does Roblox take from a game pass?
30%. You keep 70% of the Robux spent.
What size is a game pass icon?
Up to 512×512 pixels, in .jpg, .png or .bmp. It's shown as a circle.
What's the difference between a game pass and a developer product?
A pass is bought once and kept. A developer product can be bought again and again, so it's the one for coins or lives.
Can I sell a pass in another of my games?
No. Roblox ended cross-game pass sales on May 30, 2026. Each pass sells in the game it belongs to.
